2024 Couples Retreat

Did you know that…

• There are 2.7 million households (with 13.3 million persons) with a household enterprise in Uganda?
• 2 in 5 households amongst the richest 20 percent of households in Uganda have a household enterprise compared to 1 in 5 amongst the poorest 20 percent of households?
• Only 3 percent of business in Uganda are incorporated, 5 percent are registered with URSB and 0.4 percent have a complete set of written accounts (Audited Accounts)?
• Globally, only 12 percent of family businesses survive to the 3rd generation, and only 3 percent make it to the fourth generation and beyond?
• Communication between and amongst stakeholders is the main pillar for family business survival?

The above questions and statistics are telling about the health of household enterprises in Uganda, and how well the church has done in learning from God how to build fruitful and lasting household enterprises: “…I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.” (Isaiah 48:17, NKJV).

Husbands and wives are often involved in household enterprises as owners. God calls upon them to “…remember the Lord [their] God: for it is he that giveth [them] power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto [their] fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Christian couples with household enterprises ought to be leaders and not victims in the marketplace.  Building fruitful household enterprises is one of the ways God uses the Church to restore communities and repair cities.
